Health consultation

Chinese Medicine is a holistic treatment

Each person is unique in their health.

  • The health consultation is an essential part of the healing process. It not only affects the Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment methods, but also affect Chinese medicine diet, lifestyle and exercise recommendations.
  • The practitioner’s comments plus client’s own initiatives are considered as part of the consultation process as well.
  • The thorough and interactive consultation can give a better and broader picture of your health condition to the practitioner.
  • Generally, a standard consultation takes approximately within half an hour, although a comprehensive one (a longer consultation) may be necessary.
  • Clients are welcome to bring along their medical records or any other health documents when coming in for a consultation.
  • It is also recommended for other family members and/or carers to come along too. All these aspects provide a good overall picture and the ongoing concerns of the client and can affect the formation of treatment plan and its progress.
  • We look not only the present signs and symptoms of the person, but also the medical history, general constitution, tongue observation, pulse reading, physical assessment and lifestyle check in order to make a proper Chinese medicine diagnosis.
  • The tongue is used as an indicator of body’s Qi circulation, body fluid and bodily functioning in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Therefore, in relation to tongue observation, the practitioner will observe the colour, texture and coating of the tongue, etc.
  • In pulse reading, the pulse strength and rhythm is an indicator of internal health and energy flow.
  • The practitioner will also observe your skin complexion, breathing, voice and so on as indicators of health to consider the treatment plan.
  • Each patient’s personalized treatment design may incorporate, depending on the nature of the complaint, its severity, and its longevity.
  • Treatment can commence on the same day after the consultation. After a few weeks of regular visits for treatment have taken place, clients can have a follow up consult to receive an update on the treatment progress.
  • We also support clients who go to other health services providers as well, where we can establish communication with them through reports or referral letters. We aim to work along with anyone who is involved in the client’s treatment plan in order to achieve the best care for the client.
  • A consultation with your Chinese Medicine practitioner is advised before any treatments (such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, scraping, massage or cupping) are given, or before being prescribed any herbal medicines. This consultation is essential to communicate and connect to discuss possible treatment plans, health care and to follow up with the plan effectively.

Benefits

Traditional Chinese Medicine, with the view of holism, also considers the influence of seasonal and climatic changes on the human body. As such, we recommend clients to visit us for preventative measures and other health checks even when feeling well.
